The attack at Tsukui Yamayuri En was a vicious reminder of the vulnerability of people who have a disability. It demonstrates the challenge in providing safety and security for those who need support the most. However, the response from people around the world shows that we want to work together to prevent similar tragedies in the future. We must work in solidarity to ensure that we develop the best safeguards possible. We need to learn from this horrific incident in order to honour the victims and their families and also to prevent similar situations in the future.

We are with you Japan!
Disabled people in New Zealand were shocked and deeply grieved by these killings. We needed to show in public how we felt pain and respect for all of those killed injured or otherwise impacted.So we set up a vigil in Wellington to mourn these killings. I am one of the organisers. I rang 19 chimes for those killed and we had flowers, candles and poems for the victims. The wind was cold but our spirits were strong with our best wishes.
We wish peace to the souls of the departed and healing to those still living. We are in solidarity with disabled people in Japan
